The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ latest decision makes it seem like they’re committed to Baker Mayfield for the future.
Replacing Dave Canales with Liam Coem seems like a step in the right direction to build their offense around him.
There have been plenty of rumblings regarding his impending contract, and it seems like he’s going to get paid a lot of money on a long-term deal to stay put at Raymond James Stadium.
With that in mind, it’s not much of a surprise to see that he wants the best players to be there as well.
That’s why, talking to Kay Adams on the “Up & Adams” show, he claimed that he surely hopes that Mike Evans is back with the team, adding that he should be a Buccaneer for life:
“If I’m back in Tampa, I would love to have Mike back, and the guy deserves to be a Buc for life,” he said.

Evans failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension last season.
He claimed that he wouldn’t talk about it later in the season after a self-imposed deadline, so negotiations likely stalled until this point.
Evans has logged at least 1,000 receiving yards in every single season he’ been in the league thus far, and he has a chance to be one of the greatest players in franchise history.
The Buccaneers also need to do right by him and match his market value, as multiple teams could be more than glad to lure him if they don’t value him that much.
He developed a strong rapport with Mayfield, and everybody knows what he’s capable of.
Now, it’s all about getting the numbers to work.
