Most people acknowledge that the Kansas City Chiefs have the best quarterback in the game.
Some might also agree that Andy Reid is right up there when it comes to the best offensive minds and play-callers ever.
However, there’s a player who stands on a tier of his own when it comes to his position, and that’s Travis Kelce.
At least, that’s how Shannon Sharpe seems to think.
Talking on The Pat McAfee Show, the Pro Football Hall of Famer tipped his hat to Kelce, going as far as to call him the greatest tight end to ever do it.
“For me, Travis Kelce is the GOAT Tight End,” Sharpe said.

Needless to say, that’s the ultimate compliment coming from a guy who paved the way for modern tight ends to become pass-catching threats and get more involved in the passing game.
Sharpe explained that Kelce is putting up numbers like a wide receiver, adding that he could match Rob Gronkowski’s stats every day of the week.
His production and how he’s developed a strong rapport with Patrick Mahomes have turned him into the biggest threat in the Chiefs’ passing game, and that’s unprecedented for a tight end, as even Gronk usually had other guys to draw attention away from him.
Of course, these players are a byproduct of what Sharpe was able to do back in the day, and there are also guys like Tony Gonzalez right up there.
But if Kelce keeps this level of production up, it will be hard to argue with anyone who calls him the best to ever do it.
