The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers making it to the Super Bowl should surprise no one.
Both teams have a flurry of talent, and they were built for this moment.
Of course, there are levels to everything, and the Niners stand on a tier of their own when it comes to a stacked roster, even ahead of the defending Super Bowl champions.
Nonetheless, Patrick Mahomes believes the ‘underdog’ narrative is being overplayed at this point.
Talking ahead of the big game, he claimed that it’s just a game between two great teams with plenty of talent on their roster, and that’s it (via 49ers on NBC Sports).
“We’re two great football teams going up against each other,” Mahomes said.

Being the kind of competitor he is, he must be at least a little mad about not being favored for this game.
At the end of the day, some Niners fans — and even some players — would rather be underdogs.
Mahomes and the Chiefs have been on a mission since the start of the playoffs, knowing they would have to take care of business on the road and silence all the doubters along the way.
He’s been an elite postseason performer throughout the course of his entire career and this will be his fourth time playing in the final game of the season, so he knows what he’s up against.
Then again, a little extra motivation never hurts.
Andy Reid must have his players ready to take the field by storm right out of the gate and prove to pundits and oddsmakers that they were wrong.
