The Carolina Panthers had the worst record in the league this season, and it was far from a fluke.
The team looked unprepared to play more often than not, and Bryce Young looked raw and out of sorts.
It wasn’t much of a surprise to see them part ways with Frank Reich, although doing it mid-season didn’t do much to help their case.
Now, they’ve hired offensive guru Dave Canales, looking to take a page from the Houston Texans’ book and turn their team around overnight.
Notably, it seems like their new coach is keeping receipts already.
The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator took to Twitter to react to a joke about their Super Bowl chances.
Keegan-Michael Kay said at the NFL Honors that with Taylor Swift being in Tokyo, the Panthers were the only people currently farther from the big game, and Canales didn’t seem to like that joke one bit.

Of course, it’ll be hard to convince people otherwise, and his job will have to speak for itself.
As of now, there’s no reason to believe that the Panthers will be anywhere close to contention for the foreseeable future, but we’ve seen how quickly things can change in the league.
Joe Burrow only needed one full season to lead his struggling team to the Super Bowl, and the Texans won just three games last season before making the playoffs this year.
Will Dave Canales be able to get the last laugh? We’ll have to wait and see.
