The Las Vegas Raiders got their guy.
Antonio Pierce took the reins from Josh McDaniels as interim coach and fixed a broken locker room almost right away.
Despite a subpar quarterback situation, he went 3-1 against the AFC West and made the players believe they could do something special next season.
That’s why the players rallied around him and let the front office know that they would only play for Pierce, with Maxx Crosby even threatening to request a trade if they didn’t hire him as their full-time head coach.
Notably, it’s easy to know why; you just have to listen to him talk.
That was evident in his latest appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio, when he pretty much put the rest of the division on notice and let them know that they’re going to be a problem for years to come.
“They got their work cut out for me and the Raiders,” he said.

Pierce knows what it takes to win in this league.
He’s a former player, and the guys in the locker room see him as one of them.
He speaks their language, and he really knows how to get to them and inspire them.
Just like Dan Campbell did with the Detroit Lions, Pierce has the opportunity to finally establish and develop a winning culture in an ever-struggling franchise.
Josh McDaniels had lost the Raiders’ locker room and it seemed like this team was on the verge of a major roster overhaul.
Now, the guys are actually looking forward to padding up and taking the field, and that’s all on Pierce.
