The New York Jets have one of the most talented defenses in the game.
They have a flurry of talent on that side of the field, and that has never been a major concern under Robert Saleh.
The offense, however, has left a lot to be desired.
Not even hiring offensive guru Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator was enough to bring the best out of Zach Wilson or help them establish any sort of running game.
And while Aaron Rodgers’ injury on the first drive of the year obviously derailed their campaign, they weren’t able to adjust their playbook to what they had at hand.
With that in mind, Jets owner Woody Johnson recently claimed that Saleh is going to be completely focused on his team’s offense going forward.
Talking to Rich Cimini, he stated that the team isn’t worried about the defense or special teams one bit, adding that Saleh will allow defensive coordinator Jeff Ulrich to do his thing on defense.
“It’s offense, offense, offense,” Johnson said.
Johnson: “(Saleh) is going to be a lot better head coach. One thing about head coaches is you get better as you get more experience. He’s going to concentrate on offense. He’s got Jeff to kind of do the defense and we’ve got good special teams. It’s offense, offense, offense.” https://t.co/CczGCViuR9

The Jets have been a competent quarterback away from making the playoffs for the past couple of years, so this is not much of a surprise.
Then again, they do need to improve their offensive line if they want to find any kind of success, as not even the great Aaron Rodgers can find his receivers if he doesn’t have any sort of time or space to operate in the pocket.
Saleh is going to enter the season on the hot seat, and it seems like it’s now or never for the Jets.
