Saquon Barkley always wanted to stay with the New York Giants for his entire career.
He repeatedly talked about being with the Giants for life and whatnot, but that might no longer be the case.
The team may have mishandled his situation last offseason.
He felt low-balled and disrespected by the fact that he had to play under the franchise tag, all while Daniel Jones got that much money.
Barkley has now talked about how he realized it was all business, adding that he wouldn’t mind playing somewhere else now.
With that in mind, he was asked whether he would be okay with a three-year deal worth $23 million in guaranteed money to stay in New York, and he stated that he would gladly accept that (via Doug Rush).
“I wouldn’t be against that. That’s fair,” Barkley said.
In an interview with the New York Post and article published by @rydunleavy, Giants running back Saquon Barkley was asked if a 3-year deal with $23 million guaranteed in the deal would be enough to retain him for the Giants.
“I wouldn’t be against that. That’s fair.”

Per the report, the Giants brass is expected to meet with his camp during the NFL Scouting Combine to discuss potential avenues for a deal.
Truth be told, the Giants could just simply place him under the franchise tag again, and chances are he wouldn’t be able to get that kind of money somewhere else.
However, perhaps they’re looking to make amends with their franchise star and best player.
Barkley is one of the best running backs in the game, but he’s missed a lot of time due to multiple injuries, and the market value for aging running backs has plummeted drastically.
Now, it seems like the ball’s in the Giants’ court, and they’ll have to decide if they want to do right by their star.
