After weeks of media attention and events, Super Bowl LVIII featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers is finally here.
The Chiefs, the defending champions, had an uphill battle to get back to the title game after playing their final two games of the 2023 NFL playoffs on the road.
Meanwhile, the 49ers had a bye but needed to come from behind to beat both the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions.
Both teams are battle-tested and understand what’s at stake, though the betting world seems to favor San Francisco because of their consistency.
Kansas City hasn’t looked completely like itself, though the version now is more than capable of winning the Super Bowl again.
With that in mind, it seems that bettors are hedging a bit as the point spread has dipped slightly in favor of the Chiefs, via ProFootballTalk.
“Chiefs are still underdogs, but it has dropped from two points to 1.5 points,” PFT tweeted.

The original line was Kansas City +2, but the late movement indicates that people are starting to put money on them to outright win.
This is common for high-profile games with slim margins, and Super Bowl LVIII genuinely does feel like a toss-up between the Chiefs and 49ers.
While Kansas City has the best player in Patrick Mahomes, San Francisco’s got the better all-around roster and are a little fresher.
However, Mahomes has shown that he elevates his game to another level when the lights are brightest and that could be why people are thinking twice about betting against him.
