The San Francisco 49ers had one of the best, most well-rounded teams in the NFL this season.
They made it all the way to the Super Bowl, and while they lost the title game, they still have a fantastic roster.
While conventional wisdom might indicate that they will remain strong in 2024, a recent tweet from Adam Schefter could tell a different story.
Schefter highlighted all of the marquee free agents for the 49ers this offseason, as they have at least 18 players that are free agents.
49ers’ key free agents this off-season: DE Chase Young, S Tashaun Gipson, OL Jon Feliciano, DT Javon Kinlaw, QB Sam Darnold, LB Oren Burks, DE Clelin Ferrell, DE Randy Gregory, DT Kevin Givens, DT Sebastian Joseph-Day, G Ben Bartch, TE Ross Dwelley, TE Charlie Woerner, LB…

This could greatly impact the makeup of their team, which could make for an interesting 2024 campaign.
The good news for the 49ers, is that the majority of their best skill-position players are still under contract next year, which should be a great sign for that side of the ball.
On the other hand, their defense, which has been one of the best parts of this team, could see a lot of great players walk out the door.
The NFL has a strict salary cap, and while the 49ers would like to retain all of their top talent, it is just not a reality for this team.
They have many tough decisions to make moving forward, and if they choose incorrectly, the 2024 campaign could be disappointing.
Brock Purdy is still on his rookie deal, at least, which should make their contract decisions a bit easier in the offseason.
However, he’s going to be up for a new deal soon, meaning the 49ers’ window could be closing with this in mind.
