The Kansas City Chiefs needed every defensive stop to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
For the first time in the Patrick Mahomes-Andy Reid era, they had to ride their defense instead of just hoping to outscore every single opponent that came across them.
With that in mind, the Chiefs made sure to keep defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo there for the long run.
That’s why Chiefs defensive star Chris Jones took to Twitter to express his admiration for him, going as far as to call him the greatest DC of all time.
“The best to ever do it,” Jones said.

The Chiefs and Chris Jones got into a months-long contract dispute that saw him holding out from the season opener.
They wound up agreeing to a one-year deal, but he’s about to become a free agent again.
So, having Spagnuolo on board could really help the Chiefs get another deal done with their star defensive tackle, who once again established himself as one of the most physical and dominant defensive forces in the game.
Spagnuolo is the first assistant coach to win four Super Bowls, and the Chiefs want to make sure to keep the band together for years to come.
And with all the rumors about Andy Reid’s retirement, they would be wise to keep someone like Spagnuolo on board, as he could even become a candidate to take the reins of the team as his successor.
