At this point, the Chicago White Sox are probably the worst team in the AL Central division.
They finished the 2023 campaign with a horrible 61-101 record, and depending on roster moves and other things, it could be worse this year.
That doesn’t mean the organization has to stop trying, though.
To the contrary, every move they make will be scrutinized and evaluated, not to mention it could be potentially useful even if they are out of the playoff race.
If they pick up a struggling veteran and help him get his career back on track, he could end up having some trade value ahead of the deadline.
This might be the case with the White Sox’s new addition: a former World Series-winning infielder with considerable power.
“Mike Moustakas goes to White Sox, team announces. Minors deal with invite to MLB camp,” MLB insider Jon Heyman tweeted.

Moustakas was a young, promising player when he helped the Kansas City Royals win the World Series in 2015.
He then proceeded to have a couple of excellent years in the power department.
In fact, the 35-year-old second and third baseman has 215 career home runs, and that’s not insignificant.
The last couple of years have been rough for him, though.
In 2023, he slashed .247/.293/.392 with 12 home runs and a .685 OPS between the Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Angels.
Declining and aging, Moustakas could have another chance of reviving his career in Chicago.
He will need to have a monster spring to make the team, though, since he is a non-roster invitee.
