The Milwaukee Brewers lost Game 1 of their NL Wild Card series on Tuesday at home.
They couldn’t solve the Arizona Diamondbacks’ bullpen and ended up losing, 6-3.
After the end of the second inning, however, the Brewers attacked inexperienced D-Backs starter Brandon Pfaadt and it looked like they had things under control.
By the time the third inning rolled around, Milwaukee was up, 3-0.
However, star pitcher Corbin Burnes wasn’t able to get crucial outs after that point and ended up relinquishing the lead.
He ended up serving three home runs and allowing four runs in four innings on Tuesday: three in the third and another one in the fourth.
The hurler, who won the NL Cy Young award in 2021, took responsibility for the mediocre start.
“‘The offense did a good job of scoring runs early, and I just did a poor job after that of executing pitches.’ -Corbin Burnes,” 97.3 The Game tweeted.

The Brewers were held scoreless after the second inning, and now they are facing the prospect of being eliminated after winning the NL Central.
Zac Gallen will take the ball for the D-Backs, while Freddy Peralta, who was the second-best pitcher for the Brewers in 2023 after Burnes, will do the same for the home team.
If they win today, the series would be tied 1-1 and the two teams would play a winner-take-all affair on Thursday.
However, if Arizona takes the victory on Wednesday, they would be advancing to the Division Series and leaving the Brewers behind.
Welcome to postseason baseball, where mistakes have a high price.
