It’s been quite a while since the Pittsburgh Steelers were a legitimate threat to make the Super Bowl.
Notably, most of that has had to do with their struggles at the quarterback position.
Ben Roethlisberger’s final couple of seasons weren’t that nice to watch, and they’ve failed to land a rightful heir to his throne ever since.
With that in mind, the front office could be setting their sights on either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson to take the reins of the offense next season.
However, NFL analyst Chris Canty believes they should prioritize Wilson over the Chicago Bears QB.
Talking on the UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio show, Canty explained that Wilson could give the Steelers consistent and reliable quarterback play because of his skills as a passer, which is something they’ve lacked since Big Ben was in town.
“In terms of having a quarterback that gives you confident play at the position relative to NFL standards, Russell Wilson provides that for you,” Canty said.

He pointed out the fact that all three Steelers quarterbacks combined for just 13 passing touchdowns last season, adding that Justin Fields has never passed for more than 17 touchdowns in a season.
Of course, he acknowledges that Wilson is no longer the player he used to be, and they might not be a Super Bowl-caliber team with him.
Nonetheless, with Arthur Smith establishing the running game and their defense staying healthy, Wilson could make this a very dangerous team.
Still, the Steelers could favor Fields because of his youth, as Wilson might not have that much left in the tank, and they would be forced to pursue another quarterback sooner rather than later anyway.
