Recently, new Las Vegas Raiders HC Antonio Pierce made the headlines for some controversial comments.
Talking to Maxx Crosby on his podcast, the former defensive star stated that the Raiders should take a page out of the Detroit Pistons’ book.
He explained how the Bad Boy Pistons used to have the infamous “Jordan Rules” to stop Michael Jordan, which pretty much consisted of beating him up every single time he drove to the paint.
Pierce wants the Raiders to have something similar when it comes to facing Patrick Mahomes.
Needless to say, some people took offense to those comments, especially considering that Mahomes is one of the faces of the league.
Unsurprisingly, Skip Bayless wasn’t one of those.
The pundit took to Twitter to voice his support for Pierce’s comments, quoting former Raiders executive Al Davis when he said that opposing quarterbacks must go down early and hard.
“Love what my man Antonio Pierce said for all to hear about Mahomes,” Bayless said.
Love what my man Antonio Pierce said for all to hear about Mahomes. As the late great Al Davis said, the QB must go down early in games “and he must go down hard.” I knew Al well. His old-school, real-school spirit lives on in his new head coach.

Of course, as long as the Raiders are playing within the rules, there should be no reason to call out Pierce for those comments.
The Raiders did beat Mahomes up in their latest meeting, with him getting ten quarterback hits and four sacks.
Still, with the way the game is officiated nowadays, it’ll be interesting to see how long a leash the Raiders’ defense gets to be physical with arguably the most popular player in the league.
