The Cleveland Browns thought they had found their quarterback of the future when they took Johnny Manziel.
Dubbed Johnny Football, the Texas A&M product was the biggest sensation in college football in years, and he looked poised to have a legendary career in the league.
As a matter of fact, even Skip Bayless believed he was going to be the savior of the ever-struggling franchise and the city.
He even went on record to predict that Manziel would make a bigger impact in Cleveland than LeBron James, which was obviously a hot take, even at the time.
Looking back, Manziel talked about that with Shannon Sharpe during an appearance on Club Shay Shay, apologizing to Bayless for letting him down.
“Love you bro. I honestly feel like I let him down. … This ‘Johnny Manziel will be bigger than LeBron.’ It was never ever going to be a reality.”

On a more serious note, Manziel talked about how LeBron actually tried to take him under his wing, but he kept pushing him away.
He stated that he was so depressed at the time that not even his biggest idol and role model could get him out of bed to just hang out, claiming that he’s always going to feel embarrassed.
At the end of the day, it’s nice to see that Manziel has found the courage, strength, and help to fight his demons.
Mental health matters as much as physical health, and hopefully, there will be a time when he’ll be able to forgive himself for the way he dealt with his career.
Once he does that, it won’t matter how the rest of the world might feel about him.
