The New York Giants are reportedly unlikely to place star RB Saquon Barkley under the franchise tag.
They have also been reluctant to sign him to a multi-year, lucrative deal.
That’s why former NFL star Bart Scott claimed that they’re just treating him like a sidepiece, urging GM Joe Schoen to show him some respect once and for all (via Awful Announcing).
‘Listen man, we just not that into you.’ You’re out here treating Saquon like a sidepiece. They give him just enough to make him satisfied,” Scott said.

Scott claimed that the Giants are giving Barkley just enough to keep him around and satisfied when they should be treating him like the superstar he is.
Truth be told, Barkley has been the best player on the team for quite a while now, but his injury-proneness and his position haven’t done much to help his case.
At this point, it seems like it will be better for him to just move on from the Big Apple and pursue another challenge somewhere else, as the Giants clearly don’t value him enough to meet his demands or at least make some concessions.
Barkley might not have that much left in the tank because of all the injuries he’s endured and how fast running backs start declining, but he was quite efficient and impactful last season when he was able to play.
He could be the ultimate high-risk/high-reward pickup for multiple teams, and he could end up having a major role on a contender if he’s able to stay healthy.
Perhaps all he needs to do to stay healthy is to leave MetLife Stadium.
