The Las Vegas Raiders are a team that has to feel uneasy about where they sit in the NFL hierarchy.
They are currently in limbo between being a borderline playoff team, and a team selecting in the top five.
That is a spot where no team wants to be.
But, the main reason for their struggles has been quarterback play.
Over the past decade, they have had below-average quarterbacks.
First, it was Derek Carr, who played with the Raiders from 2014-2022.
Then it was Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O’Connell last season.
None of those players were good enough to make the Raiders serious contenders.
But, this offseason it seems like the Raiders are ready to make a big play for a quarterback.
One player that has reportedly caught their eye is Chicago Bears starter Justin Fields.
According to Tony Pauline via Dov Kleiman, the Raiders are going to explore trading for Fields.

There seems to be little doubt that the Bears will trade Fields this offseason.
They have the first overall pick in the draft and are expected to select a new quarterback.
Fields would immediately be the best quarterback on the Raiders’ roster, but is he enough to get them over the top?
Fields has not had much success in his career.
He is 10-28 in his career as a starting quarterback, but what separates him is his ability to run.
He can make plays with his legs and that has made him valuable.
More than likely, Fields will not be enough to push the Raiders into the playoffs.
But, he is an upgrade from the players they currently have on their roster.
