The New England Patriots have fallen off ever since Tom Brady left in free agency.
That was to be expected given his legendary status in the game.
But, it was still shocking to see how poorly the Patriots played without him.
One reason for their downfall has been the struggles of Mac Jones.
He was drafted in the first round with the hopes of successfully taking over for Brady.
But, that has been anything but true.
Jones has played poorly in his career, and it is likely his time as the Patriots’ starter has come to an end.
According to Mike Giardi, Patriots OC Alex Van Pelt was asked if he could envision Jones being the team’s starting quarterback in 2024.
He said: “Right now, everything is on the table.”

That is not the ringing endorsement a quarterback would want to hear about his job status.
But, the Patriots may be considered foolish to go into another year with Jones as a starter.
It is clear he is not the answer, and the Patriots should be looking to the NFL Draft for their next starter.
New England has the third overall pick in the draft and there is guaranteed to be a high-potential quarterback available.
But, if they choose not to draft one they could always sign someone in free agency.
Some quarterbacks who are set to hit free agency are Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, and Ryan Tannehill.
Each would be an upgrade over Jones.
The Patriots have a decision to make with Jones, but moving on from him should not be difficult.
