The New York Jets are hoping that the 2024 NFL season is a bounce-back year for them as the 2023 campaign was marred by injuries and inconsistent quarterback play.
The Jets infamously lost Aaron Rodgers in Week 1 on the team’s first offensive drive, setting the stage for a season full of disappointment and missed opportunities.
Although New York’s young and talented defense was able to uplift the team to some wins, the offense let them down more often than not.
Zach Wilson was far from an adequate replacement for Rodgers as he couldn’t make do with his skilled position players like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.
Although Rodgers is expected to be back fully healthy for the start of next season, the Jets need to give him some weapons to work with.
Sauce Gardner said if it was up to him, he would go out and sign Calvin Ridley or Mike Evans via his personal Twitter account.
“I’m going to sign Calvin. If that don’t work, I’m signing Mike. I can’t go wrong with either one of them. I feel like Tee won’t be available for me to sign him,” Gardner posted.

Both Ridley and Evans served as the No. 1 options for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, respectively, and would be excellent complements for Wilson.
Protecting Rodgers is more important than receiver help, but it’s easy to imagine what New York’s offense could look like with one of Ridley or Evans lining up outside.
The two star wideouts could end up re-signing with their own teams, but if they don’t then the Jets need to consider chasing after them.
