After a stellar career with the University of Southern California, superstar quarterback Caleb Williams will take his talents to the next level, as he’s expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
Although the Chicago Bears, who own the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s draft, still have to trade quarterback Justin Fields, all signs appear to be pointing to the team taking a chance on Williams with hopes of making him their franchise player moving forward.
However, Williams may have made things a bit more difficult for himself, as it recently came to light that he will head into the NFL Draft without an agent to help him with contract negotiations with whichever team decides to draft him.
Even though agents can get a bad rap for being shady or people who might take advantage of athletes, they definitely help with the contract process and provide advice for kids coming out of college and having no idea how things work behind the scenes.
On the Nightcap podcast, Shannon Sharpe said that Williams doesn’t really need an agent and can hire a lawyer to help him go through contract details.
“I’ve heard of NFL players paying an attorney an hourly rate to read over the contract, the fine print that you don’t understand. They can help you understand it better,” Sharpe said.

Williams not having an agent to go through the draft process will definitely be a hot topic of discussion, but it shouldn’t change the outcome, as the USC superstar will still almost certainly land with the Bears.
It will be interesting to see how Williams gets paid and whether hiring an agent might’ve helped him.
