The NFL keeps making money and becoming more popular by the year.
Even before Taylor Swift started dating Travis Kelce, the game was reaching more and more places, and the international games initiative is just going to get more significant in the years to come.
Nonetheless, now that the salary cap has gone up, and given how Taylor Swift and her giant fan base put social media into a frenzy and tuned in to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play, they’ve now called it ‘the Taylor Swift surplus.’
With that in mind, NFL insider Josina Anderson reported that an NFL front office source stated that it would be interesting to see how teams approach the offseason with that extra money available, as they could spend it or just sit tight.
As we head towards the NFL Combine & free agency, an NFL front office source just shared with me it’ll be interesting for them to watch how teams use their ‘Taylor Swift surplus’ in cap space:
Will teams actually spend it, just hold it, or pay down debt?

Notably, quarterbacks are once again expected to be the biggest beneficiaries of this surplus.
The quarterback market has gone crazy over the past couple of years, with every single player setting a new record and setting the bar even higher for the next guy.
Wide receivers could also be on the rise.
The league has become more offensive-driven than ever, and we’re living in the most pass-happy era of all time, so it only makes sense that the guys making most of the headlines get the bigger cut of the cake.
That’s just the way it goes in this business, and things will continue to be this way until a new trend comes up.
