Despite the fact they were swept in the only postseason series they played in 2023, the Los Angeles Dodgers won 100 games last year.
Those are the facts.
Now, they have re-signed Clayton Kershaw and added Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, James Paxton, Manuel Margot, Teoscar Hernandez and others to the core that won 100 games.
They might go for the regular-season win record this year if they stay relatively healthy.
To help them, the Dodgers are bringing back an old friend.
No, he isn’t a player anymore, although he was a top-notch performer at his position during his active days.
They are bringing in Matt Kemp, in a different role than the one that made him famous from 2006 to 2014 and in 2018.
“The Dodgers are expected to hire Matt Kemp in an advisory role, per @BNightengale & @FabianArdaya,” FOX Sports: MLB tweeted.

It’s never a bad idea to give a platform to old franchise stars to see if they can help from advisory roles.
Kemp, in particular, knows a lot about the beautiful game of baseball.
He was a true star back in the day, retiring with a .821 OPS, 287 home runs, and 184 stolen bases.
He won Gold Gloves, Silver Slugger awards, and was even determined enough to take the Comeback Player of the Year award in 2018 at the age of 34.
He knows what it’s like to be a star, but also knows what a player goes through when he struggles.
Specifics about this new opportunity for Kemp haven’t been revealed, so it’s not clear if he will be closer to the players or to the front office.
Still, whatever the role is, it’s nice to have some fresh ideas and an experienced franchise contributor on your side.
