The Boston Red Sox are one team that is flying under the radar this offseason.
That is because the Red Sox have not done much to improve during the winter.
But, there is still time for them to make a few impact moves.
One player who is still looking for a job is left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery.
He pitched very well last season for the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers.
His contributions with the Rangers helped lead them to the World Series.
Montgomery had a 2.79 ERA in 11 starts with Texas.
Now at 31 years old, he is a left-handed starter that many teams are looking to sign.
It appears the Red Sox are one team showing the most interest.
According to Buster Olney, the Red Sox recently had a Zoom meeting with Montgomery.
The Red Sox had a zoom meeting with Jordan Montgomery recently. He’d represent an upgrade for their ‘24 rotation, and if signed to a long-term deal, could be part of the staff rotation. They certainly have the payroll flexibility to make it happen.

Having a Zoom meeting with a player is far from signing him.
But, it is at least a step in the right direction for the Sox.
If they are serious about competing in 2024, they need some more impact players.
The AL East is going to be the toughest division in baseball with all five teams as possible playoff contenders.
So whatever moves the Red Sox make this offseason will be to separate themselves.
Over the past two seasons, the Red Sox finished last in the AL East with 78-84 records.
Consistency is a good thing, just not when you are consistently bad.
Boston has some work to do over the next few weeks to avoid another last-place finish.
