After missing the NFL playoffs, the Seattle Seahawks headed into the NFL offseason with plans to make some major moves in order to help right the ship.
Perhaps one of the most surprising moves of the offseason thus far was legendary head coach Pete Carroll stepping down from his position to assume another role within the Seahawks organization.
With Carroll no longer coaching in Seattle, the team was added to many other franchises looking for a new head coach this offseason, with plenty of big-name candidates available.
Ultimately, the Seahawks decided against going after big-name coaches like Bill Belichick, Mike Vrabel, and Jim Harbaugh and instead brought in Mike Macdonald to be Carroll’s successor in Seattle.
With Macdonald in the fold, he was recently asked about the quarterback position in Seattle and what the team plans to do moving forward.
Unfortunately for Seahawks fans, Macdonald wasn’t ready to answer the question about the quarterback position and what the future holds for Drew Lock and Geno Smith in Seattle via Michael-Swan Dugar of The Athletic.
“That’s a tough question, and it’s one that I probably can’t answer right now,” Macdonald said.

Macdonald’s refusal to answer the question about Smith and Lock might mean there’s an open competition in Seattle moving forward, which would be an interesting situation, especially with Carroll being all in on Smith under center.
With the Seahawks being one of the teams that wasn’t expected to make drastic changes this offseason, it’ll be interesting to see what the franchise will look like heading into the 2024 campaign and if this team can be a playoff contender in the NFC.
