With the 2024 NFL Draft only a few months away, with the annual event set to get underway on April 25, speculation and rumors are starting to swirl around the league about which players will be taken when during the first round.
As usual, the bulk of the attention is centered around the quarterback position, with only a handful of quarterbacks expected to be taken in the first round, starting with Caleb Williams out of the University of Southern California.
Williams seems like the obvious choice for the Chicago Bears at No. 1, as he’s arguably the best player in the draft, but then it starts to get interesting at the quarterback position with a few candidates to be the next player off the board at the position.
The top two candidates to be the second quarterback taken in the 2024 NFL Draft are Drake Maye out of the University of North Carolina and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels out of Louisiana State University.
A case could also be made for J.J. McCarthy, but Maye and Daniels seem like the best bets to go at No. 2 to the Washington Commanders.
With Daniels being among the top prospects at the quarterback position, teams in need of a quarterback are doing their due diligence, like the New York Giants, who he’ll meet with tonight at the NFL Combine, according to SNY.

Even though the Giants recently gave Daniel Jones a contract extension, New York may know that they made a mistake with that decision and are looking for his successor.
Daniels would be a good fit for the Giants, but they’d likely have to trade up in the first round to get him, going from No. 6 to No. 2.
