The Kansas City Chiefs are making their first big move of the offseason, and it was an easy one to make.
According to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the team has released veteran WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
This move will save them up to $12 million in cap space.

His numbers weren’t that impressive, logging just 315 yards and one touchdown in 16 appearances (10 starts) for Andy Reid’s team.
Often deemed a big-play threat, Valdez-Scantling has been a hit-or-miss kind of wide receiver for most of his career.
He struggled with miscues and drops this season, including one that cost them a big win vs. the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Chiefs still managed to overcome his play and the lack of production from the wide receiver corps to win their second Super Bowl in a row, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t going to fix what was wrong in their WR room.
Valdes-Scantling will now leave Missouri with a couple of Super Bowl rings under his belt, and he could get some more opportunities somewhere else.
He’s a speedster who will be able to create separation, but he needs to work on his hands to put his lifelong struggles with drops behind him.
As for the Chiefs, they still need to figure out how to keep L’Jarius Sneed and Chris Jones, but they will also need to add more firepower to their unimpressive wide receiver room.
