In less than two months, the 2024 NFL Draft will begin, and many expect former USC quarterback Caleb Willams to be the very first player taken off of the board.
Williams has been the projected No. 1 overall pick for quite a while now, and this year, it seems like he’s been approaching the pre-draft process with the intention of avoiding anything that could potentially hurt his draft stock.
Recently, it was revealed that the former USC quarterback would not be taking part in any of the medical examinations that most prospects typically undergo at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Former NFL wide receiver, and USC alum, Keyshawn Johnson recently shared on FS1’s “UNDISPUTED” show why he disagrees with this specific decision from Williams (via UNDISPUTED on Twitter).
“This is a bad move,” Johnson said.

Johnson shared how Williams has said he will undergo medical examinations for teams that only bring him in for a visit before this year’s NFL Draft.
The former USC wide receiver says he has no problem with this specific aspect of Williams’ decision, but he believes he is eliminating the possibility of another team flying under the radar to trade up and get him this year if he doesn’t do any medical testing at the Scouting Combine.
He uses the New Orleans Saints at pick No. 14 as an example, saying that they might want to trade the farm for the No. 1 pick to get Williams, but they don’t want to bring him in for a visit and give away their interest in him.
The Saints then wouldn’t have access to his medical information because they didn’t bring him in for a visit.
So, is Williams going about this the right way?
