The new MLB uniforms designed by Nike and manufactured by Fanatics have brought a lot of criticism with them.
Most of that criticism is warranted: people say the uniforms look “cheap,” the design isn’t attractive, and players are worried because the jerseys and pants are see-through.
Players and fans have blasted Nike, Fanatics, and MLB because of this, but far from listening to the people, executives are doubling down on the jerseys.
“Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin says they are getting blasted over the new MLB jerseys. He also says, eventually, ‘Nike will be proved right’ about the uniforms being an improvement,” Front Office Sports tweeted.

At least Rubin concedes that the public opinion on the uniforms is thoroughly negative.
One has to wonder, then, how could he think Nike is eventually going to be proven right when the public perception has already spoken (and loudly)?
The uniform controversy has been one of the most sensible topics in spring training so far.
People should be talking about X player looking in the best shape of his life, or Y pitcher losing a couple of ticks on his fastball; not about fans being able to see through their uniform, or the suspect design of the letters and numbers.
Time will tell if MLB, Nike, or Fanatics eventually do something.
Don’t hold your breath, though.
