As of right now, three quarterbacks are making a lot of noise ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, with USC’s Caleb Williams expected to be taken with the No. 1 overall pick by the Chicago Bears, followed by Drake Maye out of the University of North Carolina and LSU’s Jayden Daniels.
The consensus right now, with less than two months to go until draft day on April 25, is that these three quarterbacks will be taken consecutively once the draft gets underway, with the order still up for debate.
However, as draft day gets closer and closer, one other promising young quarterback has been getting some buzz, with J.J. McCarthy of the University of Michigan potentially starting to turn some heads.
McCarthy is coming off a national championship with the Wolverines and has earned high praise from new Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh, along with Colin Cowherd of FOX Sports, via The Volume.
“I think the most interesting player in the draft is going to be J.J. McCarthy,” Cowherd said.

At this point in time, it remains uncertain where McCarthy will land in the upcoming draft as he could conceivably be the fourth quarterback off the board, but might not go in the first round.
However, a lot can change over the course of the next month-and-a-half as he could start to move up the draft boards while making an impression on teams intent on taking a quarterback in the draft this year.
It’ll be interesting to see where McCarthy ends up and if he can carve out a successful career on the next level.
