The Houston Astros are getting ready to defend their World Series crown.
The first step in their title defense will be taking on the Minnesota Twins in the ALDS.
One person who has played a large role in the Astros’ success over the past few years is manager Dusty Baker.
He has been around the game a long time and has seen everything.
Last season was the first time in his 25-year career that he won the World Series.
Now in his 26th season, he is hoping to repeat.
Baker is 74 years old and it is safe to assume he will not be managing for many more seasons.
He even talked about his future in Houston as his team gets set to begin the playoffs.
According to Brian McTaggart, Baker was noncommittal about his future.
He said, “I try to live in the present and look forward.”
Dusty on his future: “I try to live in the present and look forward. … I’m grateful to the Lord and Jim Crane for giving me this opportunity. … It’s been a good marriage here.”

There is no question that Baker will retire as an Astro.
He will not and should not manage anywhere else.
Baker has done a great job bringing the Astros back after their cheating scandal.
Even though the team mostly remained the same, the hatred towards them could have made things difficult.
Yet, Baker found a way to take the pressure off his players and just focus on the game.
Houston is the favorite to win the American League.
Even though they were the second seed behind the Baltimore Orioles, many people believe in the Astros’ playoff experience.
This could end up being the last season for Baker, so the Astros hope to make it a memorable one.
