The American League Wild Card Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Minnesota Twins had a lot of quality pitching.
Between the two teams, they were only able to score six runs in 18 innings of play.
Chris Bassitt, one of the best hurlers on the Jays roster, didn’t even get a chance to play in the series, as the Twins swept Toronto in just two games.
Had the Blue Jays won on Wednesday, Bassitt would probably have been used heavily in Game 3.
That didn’t happen, and after Minnesota won on Wednesday, they wrapped up the series.
Bassitt, one of the classiest major leaguers, took some time to go to his Twitter account and dedicate a heartfelt message to fans.
“Thank you Blue Jays fans. Excuses will not be made. We simply need to be better. Can’t wait for 2024. God Bless y’all. See y’all soon and thank you from my family to yours. Grateful to be a Blue Jay,” he tweeted.

Bassitt signed a three-year, $63 million contract to pitch for the Blue Jays through the 2025 season.
His first year in Canada was positive, as he posted a 3.60 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP in exactly 200 innings pitched.
He hasn’t had an ERA over 4.00 since 2016, and is considered the poster boy of consistency from the mound.
It’s too bad he couldn’t even get the chance to showcase his talent in the postseason, but these things happen in short series.
He is eager to come back stronger next year and help the Blue Jays make it past the first round of the playoffs.
