Before free agency officially kicks off in less than two weeks, the Buffalo Bills will have to make some significant roster adjustments in order to get under the 2024 salary cap.
According to OverTheCap.com, the Bills are currently more than $41 million over the salary cap.
One roster move that Buffalo is reportedly planning to make to help their cap situation is moving on from running back Nyheim Hines, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Twitter.
Bills plan to release RB/RS Nyheim Hines this week, per source. Hines most likely will be back for training camp from the ACL injury that he suffered last summer, per source.

Hines missed the entire 2023 season after tearing his ACL last summer, and according to Over The Cap, parting with the running back this year will free up more than $4.6 million in cap space for the Bills.
Buffalo originally acquired Hines before the trade deadline in 2022 in a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.
The trade had the Bills sending over running back Zack Moss and a conditional 2023 sixth-round pick to the Colts in exchange for Hines.
Buffalo felt Hines could add another element to their offense and also improve their return game on special teams, as he excelled as both a punt returner and a kick returner during his tenure with Indianapolis.
Unfortunately, Hines ran into some super bad luck last summer when he was involved in a jet-ski accident that resulted in him suffering a torn ACL.
Buffalo kept him on the non-football injury list for the entire 2023 season, and now it seems like his time with the franchise is coming to an end.
Schefter mentioned that Hines should be ready to return to the field when training camps begin this summer, and at 27 years old, at least one team will probably give him a chance to make their 2024 roster.
