After losing a year of his career due to his reckless sports betting, Calvin Ridley reestablished himself with the Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2023 NFL season.
Ridley was considered one of the rising stars at the receiver position when he was with the Atlanta Falcons before he was indefinitely suspended by the league for sports betting.
The Jaguars obviously still believed in Ridley despite his behavior as they made a deal to make him the team’s No. 1 receiver.
Jacksonville was looking to build on the momentum from the previous season and pairing Ridley with Trevor Lawrence seemed like a worthwhile investment.
After his first year with the team, it appears Ridley’s done enough for them to want to re-sign him in free agency, via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.
“The Jaguars ‘very much’ want to re-sign WR Calvin Ridley,” Fowler reported via Dov Kleiman.

Ridley recorded 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns, a solid line considering he was away from the game for a year.
The former first-round pick showed he could still burn defenders with his route-running and speed, but he displayed his ability to go up and make contested catches.
Although the Jaguars didn’t make the leap some thought they would, Ridley added a much-needed dimension to the offense.
Ridley’s market has yet to be determined and complicating matters are the other free agents and the upcoming prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Some teams could opt to find their next receiver in the draft, but any team signing Ridley knows they’re getting a quality X-receiver on the field.
