The Philadelphia Phillies love playing at Citizens Bank Park.
It is hard not to when that park is one of the best atmospheres in sports.
When the playoffs come around, Phillies fans pack the stadium and make life miserable for opposing teams.
That was the case when the Phillies hosted the NL Wild Card playoffs.
In a best-of-3 series, the Phillies swept the Marlins, winning by scores of 4-1 and 7-1.
The stadium was electric and you could tell the Phillies were feeding off their fans.
According to Sarah Langs, the Phillies continue to dominate at home in the postseason.
They have a record of 24-11 in playoff games at CBP.
the Phillies are now 24-11 in the postseason at Citizens Bank Park
that .686 win pct currently stands as the best record in the postseason for any team in any park (min 20 games), ahead of:
Mets at Shea Stadium: .667, 26-13
Cardinals at Busch Stadium II: .660, 35-18 https://t.co/TMc7k8GxmK— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) October 5, 2023
That is the best playoff-winning percentage of any team at home in MLB.
Many opposing coaches and players have talked about how CBP is the best atmosphere in baseball.
It can even be intimidating to a certain degree.
Now the Phillies are getting set to rumble with the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS.
This is a five-game series in which Games 3 and 4 will be played in Philadelphia.
These two bitter rivals battled last year in this same round when the Phillies won the series, 3-1.
Atlanta comes into the playoffs with the best record in baseball and the NL MVP favorite on their team.
It will not be easy for the Phillies as Atlanta has shown no signs of slowing down this year.
But, one spot where they can thrive is at home.
The Phillies need to win one of the first three games to force a Game 4 at home.
If they can split in Atlanta, all signs point to the Phillies closing out the series at home.
