After the Seattle Seahawks dominated the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, offensive tackle Evan Neal lashed out at the fans of the storied franchise after being heavily criticized due to the team failing to be able to protect quarterback Daniel Jones in Week 4.
Neal’s comments made a lot of headlines as he didn’t hold anything back when lashing out at the fans, but he did apologize for his comments as he realized that he had become the focal point of attention this week.
In response to Neal’s controversial comments following the loss to the Seahawks, star running back Saquon Barkley shared his reaction and the advice he’d give Neal, as he suggests players should never get into a war of words with Giants fans, via Giants Videos and Ari Meirov.
Great words of advice from #Giants RB Saquon Barkley, who was asked about Evan Neal’s comments about fans:
“The advice I would give to him and any other teammate is: Never pick a battle with the fans. You’re never gonna win that one. They’ve been here before us, and they’re… pic.twitter.com/r3XlqxXfGQ

That’s some sage advice from a veteran player who knows the value of the fans and their support while also knowing that matters can only get worse going up against millions of people with opinions that can vilify a player very quickly.
As for the Giants, after a very promising performance during the 2022 NFL season, New York has seemingly taken two steps back this year, with the offense really struggling to get anything done from game to game.
Although Barkley has been out, the Giants should be good enough to shoulder the offensive load, but that hasn’t turned out to be the case, which is resulting in a bleak future for the team for the rest of the season.
