The Pittsburgh Steelers have to address their quarterback situation.
Most fans thought they were ready to go after a new quarterback in the offseason.
However, recent reports claim that they’re looking forward to giving Kenny Pickett another opportunity to prove his worth, this time with Arthur Smith as his offensive coordinator.
Notably, they were the odds-on favorites to land Justin Fields at some point, but that no longer seems to be the case.
Whoever trades for Fields will most likely have to sign him to a big contract extension, and that might not be in their best interests.
However, former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky noted that it’s not like there’s going to be a big difference between what they would have to pay for Fields and Pickett.
That’s why, talking on ESPN’s Get Up, Orlovsky urged the team to go after Fields instead.
“If you’re telling me the difference over the course of two years between Justin Fields and Kenny Pickett is $24M, you go get Justin Fields,” Orlovsky said.

He explained that the Steelers would give him, by far, the most talented offensive line he’s ever had throughout the course of his career, not to mention a much better set of skill players.
Fields has shown glimpses of great play when healthy, but he hasn’t been able to win a lot of games.
Nonetheless, most of that should be credited to his team’s lack of offensive skill players, a bad offensive line, and a coaching staff that was either unwilling or unable to put him in a position to succeed.
As for Pickett, he has left a lot to be desired in his two years in the league.
