The NFL Scouting Combine can make or break a controversial prospect.
We’ve seen that happen multiple times throughout the course of history.
Whenever scouts are on the fence, a strong outing could make a prospect’s draft stock rise drastically.
Considering that, former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky believes Michael Penix Jr. has gotten himself right back into the first round (Via Get Up).

Orlovsky acknowledges that there are some major concerns because of his history with injuries, but Tua Tagovialoa still managed to get into the top 10 despite that.
He thinks he was very impressive with his throws, and the way he throws the football is obviously the most important trait that any quarterback should have, and he has it.
Penix Jr. has a lengthy history of major injuries, and he’s been hurt in different spots, so it’s not like a chronic knee or ankle injury.
On top of that, he’s on the older side of prospects, which is why some scouts believe he could fall to the second day of the NFL Draft.
Nonetheless, Penix Jr. was stellar during his tenure at Washington, and it’s more than evident that he has the upside and the talent to become an impactful NFL player, even if he needs one year on the shelf.
Whether a team that’s looking to get a quarterback to play right now gets him or not remains to be seen, and the injury concerns will always be there.
But Penix Jr. is an NFL-caliber talent, and multiple teams could look to ignore those red flags.
