The Dallas Cowboys are at a crossroads right now.
On the one hand, they have a franchise quarterback, and no one else could fill in for him.
On the other hand, their franchise quarterback also happens to have a long list of shortcomings.
Nonetheless, former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum believes this should be a no-brainer move for Jerry Jones and his brass.
Talking on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Tannenbaum stated that Jerry Jones should just pay the bill because he doesn’t have someone else who could lead this team to success.
“If not Dak, then who?” Tannenbaum asked.
“Dak Prescott’s in the prime of his career. … If not Dak, then who? Get the deal done. Pay the bill.”

Perhaps the issue with Prescott could be similar to what happened with Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings.
No one could objectively argue that either Prescott or Cousins were bad players, bad quarterbacks, or even bad teammates.
They assured their teams some big numbers and wins, but they could also fall short when it mattered the most.
They’re both worthy of being considered a franchise-caliber player, but they might not be able to live up to their steep salaries.
Prescott is likely looking at $60 million a year, and while he’s not to blame for the state of the quarterback market, having him make way more money than other quarterbacks who are objectively better could make it seem like a bad deal.
Still, at the end of the day, the Cowboys wouldn’t only be paying him because they want him and believe in him but also because, as things stand now, they don’t seem to have another choice.
