Last month, the Los Angeles Dodgers brought back a franchise and MLB legend.
They re-signed left-hander Clayton Kershaw to a one-year, $5 million contract with a $5 million player option for 2025.
The relatively low payday stems from the fact he is injured at the moment, having undergone shoulder surgery in 2023.
Now, LA made a routine roster move involving the former Cy Young and MVP award winner.
They did it to accommodate a new player coming via trade.
“Dodgers say they acquired infielder Andre Lipcius from the Tigers for cash. He is on the 40-man roster. Clayton Kershaw moves to the 60-day IL,” Dodgers insider Fabian Ardaya tweeted.

Kershaw will miss, at the very least, the first half of the year as he continues his rehab from serious surgery.
The veteran, if he is able to complete his recovery successfully around the summer, will be pitching for a 17th season with the Dodgers.
He remains an elite performer, or at least was before hurting his shoulder.
In 2023, he posted a brilliant 2.46 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 137/40 K/BB ratio in 131.2 innings (24 starts).
As for Lipcius, he is an infielder capable of playing second and third base.
He made his MLB debut last year with the Tigers, accumulating a .742 OPS in a short stint.
He is a career .281/.371/.430 hitter in 144 career games in Triple-A, which means he is the type of player the Dodgers as an organization like: contact, very solid on-base skills, and some power.
He has also learned how to play the outfield and that increases his chances of making the roster.
