Top third baseman Matt Chapman finally ended his time as a free agent.
Over the weekend, he committed his future to the San Francisco Giants on a one-year, $18 million contract.
The deal will also have two player options for 2025 and 2026 and a mutual option for 2027.
The player will essentially be able to control his future, which is good for him.
As a result of the agreement, he is ecstatic about joining an ambitious team with the desire to win and a quality roster in place.
“Having an opportunity to be in an organization like the Giants… I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of that,” he said, per the team’s official Twitter account.

The team returned the gesture and wrote that they are excited to have him on board.
Chapman had an impressive start to the 2023 season, but vanished and finished with a relatively modest .240/.330/.424 line and a .755 OPS.
He did accumulate 39 doubles and 17 home runs, though, and his pop will fit in nicely in the renewed Giants lineup.
The Giants added Jung-Hoo Lee to the top of the lineup, as they needed a dynamic table-setter with wheels, but also contact and some power.
They also added their fair share of power with the signings of Chapman and Jorge Soler, who hit 36 home runs last year with the Miami Marlins.
Having brought in Jordan Hicks to fortify the rotation, too, and trusting in some key prospects like Marco Luciano and Kyle Harrison, the front office believes they can make a push for the postseason.
