The New York Jets are making moves.
The start of the new league year is just around the corner, and they need to make sure to clear some salary cap space.
Considering that, they’ve decided to part ways with veteran tight end CJ Uzomah, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN (via Ari Meirov).

This isn’t much of a surprise.
Even though he had one year left in his contract, he wasn’t much of a factor for the team last season.
The Jets will save around $5.3 million.
He was unable to finish the season on the field, suffering an MCL injury that landed him on the Injured Reserve list.
Even when healthy, Uzomah was rarely used as a pass-catcher, logging 290 yards and three touchdowns in 27 games in the Big Apple.
He was unable to live up to the sky-high expectations the fans had when he joined the team on a three-year deal worth $24 million back in 2022, as he had been a very productive player during his days with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Now, at 31 years old and coming off a major injury, he might find a tough time getting some sort of value in the free agent market, and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him going unsigned in the offseason.
