Caleb Williams has been the projected No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft for over a year at this point.
At least a quarter of the teams in the NFL at the moment are likely in the market for a new quarterback, and while this draft is loaded with talent at the position, there is still little doubt Williams will be the top pick.
The question is if the Bears will trade the pick and keep Justin Fields at QB, and Skip Bayless is particularly worried about one team making a move up for Williams: the Washington Commanders.
“What I would fear as a Cowboy fan, is if they traded up and gave whatever it took to get Caleb,” Bayless said.

Washington currently has the No. 2 pick in the draft and will have their choice between North Carolina’s Drake Maye, Heisman Trophy winner out of LSU Jayden Daniels, or any other of the available QB prospects unless they decide to trade up.
Bayless, a well-documented Dallas Cowboys fan, fears having to go up against Caleb twice a year as a division rival.
“He has that ‘it’ factor. He can stand up to the pressure,” says Bayless.
After the NFL Combine and hearing from the Bears front office, a trade out of the No. 1 pick for a second consecutive year is starting to look less likely.
Williams himself has been vocal about being on board with going to Chicago, something that was a major concern in the past.
Even if Washington were to trade up one spot to get Williams, the price would still be historic given how highly regarded Williams is as a prospect.
