Ever since it was made public that Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. had soreness in his right knee, fans hit the panic button.
In July of 2021, he tore the ACL in his right knee, missing the rest of the season and limiting him in 2022.
That’s why people were so scared: the soreness is in the same knee he blew up a couple of years ago.
He underwent an MRI on Friday that revealed irritation of the meniscus in his right knee, and the team, just to be safe, scheduled a visit with notable surgeon Dr. Neal ElAttrache.
The entire Braves organization, fans, fantasy owners, and many more people were all holding their breath.
Fortunately, there is good news to report.
“OF Ronald Acuña Jr. was seen by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles last night, who confirmed irritation in the meniscus of his right knee. Acuña Jr. is set to gradually increase baseball activities and is expected to be ready for Opening Day,” the team reported via Twitter.

His ACL repair is intact, and that represents excellent news on itself.
There is irritation in the meniscus of the knee, though, so it’s not nothing.
Still, the dynamic outfielder and reigning NL MVP is expected to be ready for Opening Day and that’s a huge win for the Braves.
Acuna hit .337 last year, with 149 runs scored, 41 home runs, and 73 stolen bases, becoming the founding member of the 40-70 club.
With his knee being a bit banged up, it’s unrealistic to expect the steals total to hold, but he will help the Braves in many other areas.
