All has been quiet in San Francisco since the 49ers’ devastating overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, but thankfully the team is starting to show signs of moving past the loss.
A few players have begun to speak publicly about the loss, but we have now finally heard from quarterback Brock Purdy.
Purdy shared an Instagram post earlier today with a simple message, saying “Won together and lost together. Did it with my boys. Keep the faith.”

Purdy had a solid Super Bowl performance, going 23/38 for 255 yards and a touchdown, but left a few too many big plays on the table down the stretch to leave the door open for the Chiefs to sneak out a second consecutive championship.
Still just 24 years old and with only 25 regular season starts under his belt, Purdy’s excellence combined with his minuscule $1 million salary has helped create a significant title window for the 49ers with plenty of urgency to capitalize on before the team has to pay Purdy.
San Francisco faces an offseason with a few question marks, namely the free agency status of receivers Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings, in addition to potentially losing Chase Young, Randy Gregory, and Javon Kinlaw from the defense.
A loss of this magnitude takes time to recover from, whether you’re a fan or a player.
It’s great to see Purdy continuing to be a leader and encouraging his teammates and fans that things are still headed in the right direction and he is ready to keep pushing for the team’s sixth championship.
