The Philadelphia Phillies must be excited about what they can accomplish in 2024.
The past two seasons ended with the Phillies losing in the World Series and then the NLCS.
Despite being a Wild Card team both of those years, the Phillies seem to play their best in the playoffs.
While winning the division is the easiest path to the World Series, that is not one the Phillies are accustomed to.
The 2024 Phillies are expected to compete for the World Series once again.
One reason for that is they have loaded up their roster.
While the Phillies have not signed many outside free agents this offseason, they did re-sign some of their players.
According to Talkin’ Baseball, the Phillies did exactly what they were supposed to this offseason in the best way possible.

They extended starting pitchers Aaron Nola and Zack Wheeler.
Both are now locked into long-term contracts.
Also, they will bring back the same lineup from the past season.
The one outside addition they made was signing utilityman Whit Merrifield.
He will be a part-time player with the Phillies but he can have a significant impact.
We are used to seeing the Phillies make a major signing in free agency like when they acquired Bryce Harper or Trea Turner.
Yet, they benefitted most from not making a major move this offseason.
The Phillies are looking like one of the best teams in baseball this season.
As long as they can stay healthy there is no doubt they have a chance to get back to the Fall Classic.
