After another disappointing season, the New England Patriots decided enough was enough, and it was time to clean house, with an emphasis on the coaching staff and the quarterback position.
Ultimately, after 24 seasons with the storied NFL franchise, longtime owner Robert Kraft parted ways with legendary head coach Bill Belichick and replaced him with former player Jerod Mayo, which was a move no one saw coming.
With Belichick looking for another opportunity in the NFL and the team moving forward with Mayo, the attention turns to the quarterback position in New England, with the consensus being that neither Mac Jones nor Bailey Zappe are the answer under center.
Fortunately for New England, the team owns the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft, and will have a shot at bringing in a talented young player like Drake Maye or Jayden Daniels.
However, it seems as though the Patriots are interested in bringing in a veteran quarterback who has some experience in New England.
According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, New England has an interest in bringing back veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett.
Not Franchise Tag related, but the Patriots’ interest in Jacoby Brissett is real. They’ll have competition for him, but OC Alex Van Pelt loved coaching Brissett in Cleveland in 2022 and the Patriots view him as a great locker room guy who is all about football

Even if Brissett ultimately becomes the backup in New England, it would be a smart move for the Patriots, as he’s been a formidable backup quarterback during his time in the league up to this point.
The Patriots will almost certainly bring in a rookie quarterback next month, but Brissett gives them some stability and insurance at the position moving forward and is a great mentor for whichever young quarterback ends up in New England.
