The Kansas City Chiefs couldn’t reach an agreement with L’Jarius Sneed.
They had no choice but to use the non-exclusive franchise tag on the star cornerback, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stay.
If anything, chances are they’re going to be forced to trade him if negotiations continue to stall.
With that in mind, the New England Patriots could emerge as a potential destination, according to a report by Tyler Dragon of USA Today (Via Mike Kadlick).
The #Patriots have inquired about trading for #Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, per @TheTylerDragon.
Would be quite the pairing opposite Christian Gonzalez. pic.twitter.com/pbLJu7jEf9

The Patriots are reportedly heavily invested in improving their subpar offense, but that doesn’t mean they’re not keeping an eye on the other side of the field as well.
The Chiefs have granted Sneed permission to speak to other teams and seek a trade, but they could ask for a hefty return for his services.
Whatever the case, the Patriots could be engaged in a bit of a bidding war for the superstar cornerback.
At least seven teams, Patriots included, have expressed an interest in him, which is far from a surprise.
Sneed anchored one of the best secondary defenses in the game en route to a Super Bowl win.
The Chiefs would love to keep both him and Chris Jones, but they’re both demanding a hefty payday.
Whether he’ll end up in Foxboro remains to be seen.
