The Atlanta Falcons dropped the biggest news during the first day of free agency as they signed Kirk Cousins to a 4-year, $180 million deal to be their new quarterback.
It was a quick development for the two parties, and Atlanta will now have its first star quarterback since Matt Ryan left in 2021.
NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe shared a clip on Twitter where he discussed how ecstatic other Falcons players are to be bringing Cousins to town.
Falcons players ecstatic to welcome Kirk Cousins a major upgrade for a team that felt they were a QB away.
Stock up for Kyle Pitts, Drake London and Bijan Robinson & as noted in my @nflnetwork report, Falcons were looking to add at WR & did so mins later in Darnell Mooney. More: pic.twitter.com/MGeyspdTGb

Wolfe said he spoke with star defenders Grady Jarrett and Jessie Bates and both said they love the move.
This team has been carried by its defense and running game over the past couple of years, and the general sentiment is that they were a quarterback away from being a contender.
Wolfe said after speaking with people around the team, they felt that if they got even average quarterback play in 2023, they could have won the division.
Fans had to deal with two agonizing seasons of Marcus Mariota and Desmond Ridder under center, and now they get to enjoy one of the most accomplished and consistent quarterbacks of his generation.
Ridder put up 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions last season, while Cousins had 18 touchdowns and five picks in just eight games.
Atlanta has used top-10 picks on offensive weapons in three consecutive drafts and will now hopefully not have fans pulling their hair out as they have failed to utilize all that talent due to poor quarterback play and questionable coaching decisions.
Atlanta also signed Darnell Mooney to a 3-year deal, giving Cousins yet another weapon to work with in 2024.
