Super Bowl hero Mecole Hardman has done a lot of talking this offseason after his game-winning catch to beat the 49ers and bring the Chiefs a second consecutive championship.
According to some, he talks a little bit too much.
One of those people is New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner, who has taken exception to Hardman’s recent comments blasting the Jets for being dysfunctional and went on Ryan Clark’s show “The Pivot” and said, “he never earned his stripes.”
“He never earned his stripes. He came into the (Jets) facility and just thought he had it made. If you know what it takes to win, you’re not going to go to practice and drop punts and then have excuses as to why you dropped them,” Gardner said.

“When I met Mecole … the first thing I thought is he talks a lot.”

Hardman signed with the Jets prior to last season on a one-year, $4 million deal and was traded back to Kansas City shortly after reportedly telling the Chiefs in person, “come get me” during their regular season meeting in 2023.
Gardner also added that Hardman should be grateful the Jets traded him to the best possible situation and that he could’ve taken the high road instead of blasting his former team in the media.
He also accused Hardman of leaking a game plan to the Eagles before their game on October 15, an accusation which Hardman denied.
It’s admirable to see the two-time All-Pro standing up for his organization so strongly.
Gardner has quickly become a fan favorite in New York and knows that he is a big part of turning the ship around in New York.
Hardman caught just 15 passes last season, only one of which was with the Jets.
He is now a free agent looking for his next home.
