The reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs made a big move this week by giving Pro Bowl defensive tackle Chris Jones a massive new contract that will keep him in the fold for a while.
That deal will pay him nearly $159 million over the next five years.
It is an integral move in the Chiefs’ attempt to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowl titles, and superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes is doing his part off the field.
Mahomes, per Adam Schefter, will be restructuring his contract to give his team the requisite salary cap space to chase yet another world championship.

With three championship rings in the last five seasons, Mahomes has entered the stratosphere of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play football, and many now feel he has a chance to at least equal the resume of Tom Brady, considered by most to be the greatest ever, in the years to come.
He is also one of the most likable superstars in any sport, and he has been active off the field with multiple initiatives aimed at helping people of color and the underprivileged.
Jones, despite being an interior defensive lineman, is one of the NFL’s best pass rushers, and he was perhaps the lynchpin of a Kansas City defense that was second in both points and total yards allowed in 2023.
The team appears equipped to add a new story to their dynasty in the months to come, and every key player seems to dedicated to making it happen.
